PAPHE162. Community 1st Aid&Safety

An elective course designed to prepare the student in basic first aid care to the sick or injured. Drills and practice will prepare the student to react properly in accident situations, plan his/her actions and exercise good judgement in adapting his/her classroom training to the accident scene. Students successfully completing the course will be eligible for American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Certification.

PAPHE220. Science & Art of Sailing

Training necessary to safely handle a sailboat including rigging and launching; sailing a run, beat, and reach: tacking and jibbing; landing, crewing, safety, and rescue techniques. Sailing is on open water in sloop rigged dingys.

PAPHE261. Advan. First Aid & Emerg

Essential information for developing the funtional first aid capabilities required by physical education teachers, coaches, and other special interest groups. Designed according to the guidelines of the American Red Cross for its course in Advanced First Aid and Emergency Care.

PAPHE296. Coaching Theory&Techniqu

Coaching Theory & Technique. Basic philosophical, psychological, and physiological aspects of coaching.

PAPHE297. Sports Officiating

An introduction to team & individual sports officiating. Knowledge of the rules, mechanics, & positioning will be emphasized. Game experience will be provided through the College Intramural program.

PAPHE298. Coaching Tennis

Instruction in the basic introductory skills (grips, strokes, serves, volleys, body positioning, and other supplementary strokes), rules, etiquette, scoring and game strategies. History, types of courts, equipment, and terminology will also be reviewed.
