This course is designed to increase the student's awareness of his or her needs, impact on other persons, and the demands of the environment. Different agencies will be studied.

Human Services in Contemporary Society A lecture and discussion course designed as an introduction to the community base of services. The presence or absence of educational, social, and planning services, as well as their place and performance, are examined in the context of theoretical and empirical community dimensions. Examples of such dimensions include community complexity, differentiation, modernity, ethnicity, and community role.

Study of the community and other forms and process associations as major loci and instruments for defining and meeting human needs. Analysis of models of community study, knowledge of community change processes, with emphasis on planning and organizing for change related to human services, formal and informal.

Ethical Aspects of Human Services. Ethical issues involed in the provision of human services; values clarification.

PAHUS471. Staffing in Hum.Serv.Org

A course which deals with the general topics of staffing in human service organizations, including attention to the recruitment, organization and administrative supervision of staff. Other topics include staff conflicts, grievance procedures, delegation of authority consultation, and in-service training and staff development.

PAHUS472. Thry.&Prac.ofAdmin.HumSv

This course introduces students to the basic concepts and practice principles in administration, planning and program evaluation. It prepares students in the social work administration track for further specialization in this area.
