A basic overview of the foundations of school leadership and supervision are presented in this course. Theories & processes of leadership and supervisory skills are utilized in practical and theoretical situations involving individuals and group situations which elementary and secondary administrators,supervisors, and teachers may experience.

PAEDU484. School Business Adminis.

Basic principles of the business administration of public school systems are reviewed and analyzed. Problems related to business management, office organization, the budget process, accounting, insurance, debt service, transportation, and the interrelatedness of the business and educational objectives of the school district are studied. Considers the impact of recent technological advancements on school business administration.

PAEDU485. School Plant Planning

Students study both the theory and practical application of the relationships between educational facilities and educational programs. Areas include the development of educational specifications, school site selection, barrier-free accommodations, the relationship of building planning to environmental studies and energy conservation, the utilization of school buildings in a time of declining enrollment, selection of an architect, bonding procedures, the selection of equipment, and the planning of various facilities based on curricula and community needs.

PAEDU486. School Law

The legal framework for public education is studied, including the state school code. Special attention is given to the powers and duties of boards of education and the rights and responsibilities of parents, students, and employed personnel.

PAEDU490. School Library Service

An examination of the organization, operation, planning and equipping of school library media centers. Emphasis upon the role of the media specialist in the curriculum.

PAEDU492. PublicSchoolAdmin II

PUBLIC SCHOOL ADMINSTRATION II. Synthesis & application of theories & research to programs & practics of school site administration. Emphasis upon the managerial functions of planning, organizing, staffing, developing & controlling, as applied to specific operational issues.
